At last, I have graduated! In May 2007 I received my BFA in Ceramics from Maine College of Art.
I am now living in Brunswick, Maine and renting studio space at Saltbox Pottery for the fall, winter, and spring. Next summer, I will be returning to Little Cranberry Island to work at Islesford Pottery.
The pottery I produce is one-of-a-kind, functional, and made from red earthenware clay. I create forms by using both the potter's wheel and hand-building methods.
During the past couple years at school, I developed a glazing technique rooted in traditional majolica. This technique enlivens my pottery with colorful decorations and a subtly tactile surface. Plants, vegetables, flowers, fabrics, and wallpaper inspire my designs.
I am fascinated with the power that color and pattern have to positively change the quality of one's life. By making pieces for daily use, my hope is to invite that power into a regular pattern of living.
